Hi all,
I have an evinrude 2 stroke 1994 our first boat we have been working on and almost ready to go out on the water but as you can see in the beginning and end of the video it’s like it wants to turn off, I have had the fuel pump done and I bought a new fuel line and primer bulb for the tank and the connectors I was told that the carby was good.
The primer bulb sometimes takes like 5 seconds to come back up after pressing it, but the other hose I had on before the primer bulb would stay very hard, so both hoses were acting different.
Link to the video is below
Any Advice or ideas what could be causing this or something I could try. Thank you

Sounds like it is running on 1 cylinder check spark and compression. The motor has what is called a lean sneeze usually a turn of the low speed screw will cure that. Does the arrow on the new primer ball point to the motor?

Hi thanks for the reply, I had a compression test done at the local boat mechanic and it was very good I was told I forgot the actual number he said it was almost perfect. The arrow is pointed towards the motor. I will do some research on the lean sneeze to find the locations thanks again

if your primer bulb takes a bit to get round again sounds like you have no tank vent , which will cause running issues too, i drilled my extra tank with a 0.40 drill bit in the cap , my main tank has a vent screw on it, 14 footx36x57 john boat with both 6 gal tanks and all my gear gets on plane in 5 seconds with my old 72 johnson 25

Seems to be working good now after buying a new primer bulb but still has that sputter
thanks

Hi all just an update, my brother came over and while I was away he was fixing some electrical wire on the boat he disconnected the battery but when his son went to reconnect it he placed the battery connectors on the wrong Battery terminals for less than 10seconds and smoke came out of the outboard when they took the cowling off they couldn’t tell where the smoke was coming from.
anyone have an idea what this could be or if it could be causing this problem?
thanks

The problem is letting inexperienced folks touch your boat.------Likely need them to pay for a new rectifier for one thing.-----Maybe more stuff.

Hi all we worked out the problem, my father in-law came over and he is a car mechanic, he looked at the carby and he got me to start it and as he was revving it he placed his hand on the front of the carby on and off creating a vacuum he did this a few times we and the outboard is running perfect, some rubbish looks like it made its way in there, we took it out yesterday and it ran perfect, I will eventually rebuild the carb but for now no more problems. Thanks for everyone’s advise
