Tues we were at our favorite walleye hole. My motor had been idling for a long time at trolling speed. We did change location several times so the motor was run a a higher speed.
We were about 5-7 miles downriver and decided to head back . The motor would open up to about 3/4 throttle and cut out, drop to idle, then take off again. All this happening in about a second. Now what? Checked things out couldn't see any problems. Motor would idle fine. Finally got enough power to get back to landing.
Got home and started taking things apart. The fuel pump has a spring loaded diaphragm pump. The spring had twisted and was laying downblocking a flapper valve and wouldn't pump enough gas for high speed.
Who,da thought. Just my habit of taking everything apart worked this time. Kits on the way should be back on the water soon
Thought I'd share.
