I have an evinrude 140 on an 18ft Cobia which was given to me from my father in law. I took it out two weeks ago and after fixing the linkage, the motor ran fine. FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. All of a sudden the engine bogged down and died. After Finally getting it started again and few harsh words, Every time I tried to open it up past , lets say , NO WAKE SPEED. It died again. So I finally made it back to the boat ramp two hours later. Since then I have changed the gas , the spark plugs, looked it over the best I knew how and tried it again.Same thing happened.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I dont know the year but it is a four cylinder- two stroke. looks kind of old.

Cant find a model number either, I think it was rebuilt

This happens allmost every time a boat is left to sit for a while, and fired-up without dumping the old fuel from the bowls.
What happened was,the boat started on the fresh gas, but the bowls had old varnish in them.
You will probably find by removing the carb(s), and cleaning them thuroughly, cleaning the filters, and checking to make sure the tank is venting, it will be like old times.

Could it be an ignition problem? Sure, but highly unlikely if it ran fine before it was put up.
Fuel pumps have rubber diaphrams, so you may need to rebuild this too.
It all sounds much more complicated than it really is. You will want to get the manual for it. Since you don't know the year/model or have a number to go by, go by the case style. Shop manuals will cover 10 years or so.
Go by the picture on the cover. If it looks like your engine, it will be it or close enough.
