My 2009 Etec 225 stopped charging on the third trip of the season. Both batteries went dead over the course of the day.
This spring I purchased a Sears DieHard Marine Battery, Platinum PM-2 - Group Size 34M. The shop manager is telling me the battery may be the cause because there are known issues with this type of battery. He hasn't gotten back to me with his findings on the motor yet. Has anyone heard of this?
BTW... I tested the charging system using a open lead battery and got same results; Battery reads 12.1 volts ran engine up to 2500 RPM 10 min - no change in voltage accross the battery. Turned on all electrical accessories and voltage drops and doesn't recover.
Thank you
