I had the boat hauled out today, so the boating season is officially over for me.

The boat hauler that I use met us at the ramp at about 9:00 AM and we were all done by about 9:45

Here are a few pictures of the day.

Even the trim tabs had some barnacle build up. The hull itself was pretty good.

It is always interesting to see at the end of the season what anti-fouling protection worked and what did not. Also, the condition of the anodes, which are usually quite trashed.

Pressure washed the hull while the 'slime & stuff' was still soft

The props cleaned up pretty well. I painted them at the beginning of the season with Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing Compound. ( I got that tip from some of the folks over on THT ) I was curious to see how they held up in terms of paint adhesion, antifouling and corrosion protection. the zinc seemed to keep the barnacles off the props, but other marine growth built up on them anyway.

My new pressure washer did a decent job of cleaning the hull.

Next week, it will be a matter of running all of my end of season tests on the engines and winterizing things.

can't wait until launch day next Spring !!!!

Wishing your life away my friend... :)

Once the boat's tidied away, break out the skis!!!

Re: End of Season - Back on the Hard . . .

After we got the boat settled in the driveway, the Admiral went into town and stopped by Walmart to get some RV/Marine antifreeze. Of course, they did not have any of the economical stuff, only the pricey Prestone brand. She called me to verify, and I said what the heck buy it.

Meanwhile, I went across town to help a buddy of mine winterize his 2 boats. His driveway was full of the economical Walmart antifreeze. So, I asked "where did you get that?" . . . He said "Walmart, I bought that last bit of it . . ."

We treated and drained the engines on his 2 boats (Sea Ray 270 and an older Formula 242)

I wish so bad that I could keep my boat at my house. Be able to play with it during the winter.
