Elliot Key in Florida Question

Has anyone been to elliot key. Can you beach your boat? Is there a sand bar? Do people go there on the weekends?<br />Thanks

Yes you can beach your boat, not sure in what exact place since its a santuary you have to be careful and ask the FMP. Also when beaching your boat you have to be careful with the tides pretty much all of elliot key is shalo water. There is a sand bar and it is awsome and in the summer it gets pretty full of boats. No jet skis are aloud any wheres near ellito key so if you have one do even think of taking it. There is all so camp site so you can spend the night and boat slips. Dont know either if you have to pay Ive never stayed there over night except for the columbus day regatta.

elliot key is ONLY reached by boat. its the main island of biscayne national park and offers camping and toilets. its about 8 miles from the boat ramp straight out through florida bay, wich is only about 5 feet deep so you may have to go slow.<br /><br />go to the www.nps.gov website and look up biscayne natl park or do a google search or<br /> http://www.terragalleria.com/parks/np.biscayne.4.html

elliot key is a great place to go in biscayne bay but only in wintertime...in the summer the misquitoes will eat you alive...the best though is the sandbar on a weekend...its located on the north end of the key by sands cut...i go pratically every weekend in the summer...another good island to visit thats really close to elliot is boca chica key...the one with the lighthouse...great docking facilities and overnight too.

Purchased a brand new pontoon boat recently (21 Ft/60 HP motor), and was wondering if it was safe to go to elliot key and sand key. New in the boating bussiness and want to be as safe as possible when carrying presious cargo (Family). Thanks in advance
