Re: Electronic Ignition

How does the Electronic Ign. make the boat more reliable and does it save me money on tune ups?

Re: Electronic Ignition

Much hotter spark. from some suppliers, multiple spark, no points or condenser. Plugs last longer, timing does not drift with time, fires even fouled plugs. Little improvement in operation over Kettering system in perfect tune, but stays tuned while the Kettering systems don't.

Re: Electronic Ignition

I've never converted a marine engine, but have done several vehicles and built a CD system from scratch for a Kart with a chainsaw 2 stroke. Check with MSD to see if they have a Marine system or recommend their auto system for marine applications. I definitely prefer MSD for vehicle engines. Most automotive aftermarketers can give you specs and quotes on MSD systems.

Good Luck!
