Buying a 19' Alumaweld boat. Pondering between a 90 Hp or 115 Hp 4-stroke motor. The 115 is an EFI and the 90 is not. Reliability is more important over Hp. (But there are times that boost would be nice). Any experience out there on these 2 motors and please share your thoughts on matching the motor to the boat. It is rated up to 115 max.

If you want the best of both worlds go with the efi It is truly worth it. Less maintence and better peformance just like your automobile.

Hey, Kevin 'n' Gail. I'm with Easttxhunter all the way. Simply being fuel injected makes a 4 stroke a lot more efficient engine, but being computer controlled moves it into a new class.

The Merc is a good choice (the powerhead is made by Yamaha) and light for a 4S EFI 115. You might also want to investigate the Suzuki DF115, which has a reliability rep in the same class as the Yammy. I guess it depends on the local dealer quality.

EFI 4 Stroke is definitely the way to go. I am so happy with my Suzi DF70 EFI I get excited every time I crank her up.

Fair winds.
JB
