Hi from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.

I'm leaning toward buying the Eagle Trifinder for my sit-on kayak.

We are mostly lake fishing (trolling mostly) for
rainbow trout. They are suspended fish at about 40ft in 100ft of water. In winter they will probably be much closer to the surface so a wide cone angle seems very important to me.

I like the tri finder for high pixel, wide angle and good reputation for limited dollars.

My concern are that it is to cheap and quite different to other finders ( eg 3 by 200 hz cones) and it isnt suitable to shoot thru my plastic hull.

Would it be any good for other application like finding bottom holding fish and fish around weed banks?

The other finders I like are the Garmin Blue 100 with 50/200 transducer for quality and shoot thru hull and the fisheasy 2 for cost, pixels and shoot thru hull.

The new Eagle Cuda 168 is cheap, easy on batteries, with good pixel (168) for dollar. NB Cost is a huge factor because the finder is always at more risk on a kayak.

The fisheasy and cuda boast 60 deg coverage from 20 deg cone at high senstivity which seems strange.

Any thoughts hugely appreciated, specially on the trifinder

Regards and sorry bout the essay.
