I've been trying to get a 1983 DT50 up and running 'well'. My current issue is that I'm losing power when at full throttle and if I don't back off it cuts out. It starts again straight away but will only run at full throttle for about 10-15 seconds and then the problem repeats, except now the engine is idling off its head. I've set everything to factory recommendations (timing and airscrews) checked the fuel pump and replaced the fuel and run a de-carbon through the engine.... Any suggestions on what might be causing this issue?

sounds like it is running low on fuel in the carb bowls .
not enough fuel to keep up with the high RPM fuel burn .
have you tried pumping the primer bulb while the problem is happening to see it that helps?

maybe fuel weak pump, restriction in filter or line, or sucking in air at a connection

Thanks heaps. I’ll give them all a try.

Time to replace the fuel line ?? The gray colored lines are junk to begin with, and check the fittings as well. If any of the fuel lines under the hood are dried or cracked, they can come apart inside and clog up the lines.
