16' aluminum boat, wood transom, 1981 blue fin "lil piker"
I don't know the correct name for it, but I am wondering if it would be a good idea to make some drainage holes in the sleeve that holds up my transom. I am attaching an older picture of when the rotted transom was still in there.
nasty transom:
the sleeve I am reffering to is at the bottom of the wood area, holding everything up. I would make small holes straight down, say 1/8" in diameter.
the sleeve seems in semi- decent condition, I was just wondering if anyone else had done something like this, to add a another place for the water to drain out of. I seem to remember reading something about that here on the boards, but I can't find the link anymore.
just for reference, the transom I am putting in there will be fiberglass coated (poly and cloth).
