Hi I was wondering if anyone had a idea to make a downrigger mount that clamps on to the side of a aluminum boat. Or a idea that will allow me to not drill into the boat. I have a Penn fathom master already any I really dont want to drill into the boat. I will not be using a large weight on the downrigger because it is for trout in a lake.

Re: Downrigger Mount

When I had my Lund bass boat I just took the last 2 rail cleets at the back of the boat off put a 2x6 plank across ( do not let it interfear with the motor steering movment) use longer bolts to put them right back where they were threw the plank. Drill the holes to mount the downriggers to the plank and Bob's ur unckle. Have fun fishing for the BIG ones. I did this for Lake Erie and man did it ever change the way I fished from long linning with dipsy's to the downriggers. It's a whole lot easier on the arms and what way to catch Lake Trout, large walleyes, salmon and yes even the odd bass.
