I need to rebuild the dog house and jump seats on a 1987 221 islander. Seats are missing and the dog house was carpeted and rotten. I need some ideas for a redesign. The boat will primarily be used for trolling on the Great Lakes. I am thinking about plywood because that is what I am experienced with. Your thoughts and ideas are always a great help. Photos please.

Quite a few IO guys have built new dog houses, take a look at dozerII builds for some great ideas. :)

I'm going to be fabricating a dog house myself soon. Was considering 2x3 metal stud framing, boxed with plywood skin coated with fabric embedded elastomeric coating. What? Elasto who? Google Galacti-kote.

I have thought about making one for my boat out of a sheet of 1/4 clear Lexan to keep eye on the motor and cut down on weight .The dog house on my Thompson Sea Rages is extremely heavy as the back seats . You could use the smoked color if you don't want the see thru ..
