Finally getting around to cleaning / rebuilding the carbs from my 1971 Merc 800 s/n 3148751. I have three full carb sets, one off the running motor and two from parts motors all of the same vintage.
There appears to be two models from what I can tell. WMK-2 and KD4A-T as seen in the attached photos. The two models appear identical on the outside but are of slightly different construction in the throats.
The WMK-2 has only a single brass tube protruding from the bottom and has two small holes bored into the sides of the throat just above the black plastic cross piece.
The KD4A-T carbs have the same brass tube protruding from the bottom but also has a small brass tube protruding from the right hand side and a VERY small hole bored into the left hand side just above the black plastic cross piece.
Is one model better than the other? Which is the newer style? I have the option of using either one and want to rebuild the better of the two. Anyone familiar with these things?
