This came into the shop this morning...
The guy hit a rock doing 40mph+ ... and not a scratch on the hull!

Was there any damage to the transom? I wonder if the engine is still good?

Re: Damage inc.

Apparently the motor was still running after the hit.
The transom and the hull are intact.
The two trim/tilt cylinders were the only thing holding the lower to the boat...
The boat will be back in the water tomorrow.

Today's fail...

Today's fail...

The older fella brings in his daughter's little pink and white SeaRay jet boat.
"I think there's water in the gas... it won't run right anymore."
I open the engine bay and upon inspection I didn't find water in the gas but I did find this...

Sorry... I kind of forgot the non mechanic guys.
It's a fried voltage regulator and the reason why, look at the connections on the battery.

Actually I do quite a bit of mechanic work, the picture does not make it clear if you just placed that box there, what it is, if the box is grounded then it touched the + in the battery and it fried, ect....

Huh, I just killed the 90 Amp fuse on my starter, and my stereo's fuse when I did that. The lesson I learned is that you don't change a battery at the ramp when you have a boat full of bikini-clad coeds waiting on you to change the battery. End result was no bikinis on the boat that day.

Duct tape and a can of spray paint will have that outdrive looking new in no time.
