It even got worse. The insurance company said that the boat wasn't covered because it wasn't in the water and some rider wasn't on the policy. Also since the boat wasn't covered the van couldn't be fixed either because it was the same as being hit by an uninsured motorist. We said "But we have insurance for uninsured motorists!" They said "Yes but you can't be the uninsured motorist!"<br /><br />So, we had insurance on the boat and the van but nothing got paid! Call your insurance company people and run this senerio past them. You might get a surprise yourself.
We had a lawyer look at it and it is air tight! No money for us. You are absolutely right, the 1 7/8 " ball needs to be done away with. All it does is cause problems like this.
The hooks straightened right out and turned the boat loose. They weren't big enough chains but that is what the boat came with and it just didn't seem to be that big of a problem at the time. Hehe, hindsight sure is 20/20 isn't it?
