Anyone have any favorite places to stay at Cumberland, or Norris? For that matter any other KY or TN lakes. We are new boaters and plan to take some long weekend trips this summer. Their are 5 in our crew and I would like someplace that has a slip available or nearby. Thanks for any input.

Go to Lake Cumberland. Couple hours from Cinci and what a nice place. see lakecumberland.com for details. Several nice places to stay and if you are in to camping or "cov'n it" on your boat there is no better place. FYI, all alcohol must be hauled in you wish to partake.

Started going to Norris lake in 1992 to fish and ski. You can eat any fish in that lake and their many places to stay.(norris lake.org). The Springs dock.Shanghi Landing and Mountin lake Camprgound are a few. In fact we will be going the first week in may this year. Good luck, Paul :)

Our favorite weekend at Norris was to put in at the dam, and rent a rustic cabin at Norris Dam State Park. Or just rent a slip at the dam and stay aboard. Awesome place!
Kurt

If you want to get away from the crowd then I would suggest Green RIver Lake in S.C. KY. Very close to Lake Cumberland but since it isn't as big or well known it is not even close to being as busy as Lake Cumberland. If you want more info let me know. They have camping of all types and dock rental for your boat. Even have cabins to rent, for a LOT less than Lake Cumberland. But don't tell everybody! Best Musky and Crappie fishin in the state.

Last time I was at Cumberland, we stayed at the Jamestown Marina. Nice room with a view, and our docked boat was within eye-shot. I don't have the number with me now (sorry), but call them and ask to speak to the manager. She's real nice and if you ask, will give you better than advertised rates. She threw in free docking (regularly $10 per night) for the 5 days we stayed there, plus lowered the price of the room by $10 per night. My wife has all the details, but I think she (my wife, by speaking directly to the manager) saved us about $100!! It's not a 1-800 number either, so you'll have to pay for the call. Also, you're within 5 miles of Jamestown, KY. The best home-cookin' diner is on the (EDIT)NORTHwest corner of the village square. Cheap eats!!
Of all the lakes I've been to, I'm in love with Lake Cumberland!!
Oh, PS: You can't keep your boat trailer at the marina. Parking for it is at the top of the hill. That was the only bad thing.

Seams funny to see the places you go all the time to be mentioned on the internet.

Barren River Reservoir in Ky is nice and not that crowded as well. Also, Dale Hollow on the Kentucky, TN border is very nice. Record smallmouths come out of there.
