This past weekend I took a short trip down to the cove next to the River Winds on the Delaware River on the Jersey side and found a TON of boats rafted and grills going... The whole 9 yards. We just cruised in to check it out and left because I didn't see anyone there that I know so my question is... Does anyone from here hang out in that cove? I'm not one for just pulling up and rafting to someone I don't know so it would be nice to 'know' someone that hangs out there first so there's another hang out when the usual spot is missing... At anything but low tide.

Thanks.

Are you a member of one of those clubs? What's the name of your boat? You may get a call on the VHF this weekend.

What's the general rule for joining the raft in there? Do the different clubs pretty much stick together?

Thanks!

I belong to Riverwinds and Westville PBA.I usually don't monitor the vhf when I'm in the cove but swing by and take a look.We have a pretty good crowd most times. The boat clubs seem to keep together. We are doing a poker run this Saturday and I'm not sure we'll be out there but ya never know.

That's a great cove for Sunday football. A few cruisers will have TVs, the game and some good times. Enjoy.

I didn't make it out to the cove this weekend because low tide was mid afternoon and there were LOTS of boats at the sandbar. Had a great time and made a couple new friends. Next weekend low tide is kinda early so maybe I'll see you there.

Big boat with twins? I saw them putting in opposite Hargrove's. Those things look fast! It was definitely busy this weekend and we all had a great time. I was anchored before the sand showed up and left to tube a bit and when I came back there was almost no room to tie up. Fortunately, I have a pretty good anchor and was able to get stopped in a good spot next to my friends.

Next weekend low tide is early so maybe I'll see you in the cove since I probably won't get out until a little later. Regarding the WPBA, I can't see the facebook page from work but is there information online about possibly becoming a member?

Feel free to PM if you don't want to post anything public...

Thanks again.

Wednesday probably won't work, but I'll see what I can do. If not, maybe I'll check it out Thursday.

Ok, so Thursday didn't work either due to having my air conditioner at the house repaired. Is the bar accessible from the water and do they serve food? Any weekend hours?

I just noticed that you asked where I launched... I have a season pass at the Gloucester City Marina.

Are you familiar with Big Timber Creek? If so continue up and past Hargroves Marina, follow the house line around and when you approach docks on both sides of the creek look to the right and you'll see the wpba letters over the docks.I will be there tonite for a while and probably after work tomorrow about 12. The weekend hours are 12 -12. They have food but you would need someone to sign you in as a guest. If you let me know when you're coming,I try to be there.I'm heading there now to meet my boss to get paid and probably hang around.Oh yeah,my boat "Hourglass" is 2 docks before the boat club in back of my house.

I'm very familiar with it, in fact a friend of mine offered me a spot at his dock on Big Timber Creek for the remainder of the season. I'm considering it, but not sure if I'm going to take him up on it since the boat isn't bottom painted and I've already paid for the ramp use for the season. She's only 18' so trailering isn't a problem. How expensive is the gas at Hargrove's? I remember them being about 20c/gal more than on land in the past and that's another reason I'm thinking I'll continue to trailer.

You guys have the pirate up on the deck, right? Unfortunately, I'm stuck at work until 4p today but I'll be out on the water tomorrow. I'll PM you my cell number and if you want to call or send a text, I can get back to you on Saturday and see if we can meet.

I stopped by the club around noon and talked to someone that was taking the covers off her boat tied up there. I got a little information (didn't tie up) and will probably stop by at some point to check it out.

I also made it into the cove Saturday and Sunday and other than some loud engine and loud stereo irritation, both were nice days. The girls on the loud stereo boat tried starting trouble with my girlfriend but she wasn't falling for it. If the 'Reel Nauti' is a club member, he needs a reminder that he's not the only one on the water and not everybody in the cove wants to listen to his blaring rap music.

He's not a club member but I know who he is. It isn't the first time he's done that either. What kind of boat was it that the lady was on at the club? Or canvas color?I told a few people that you might stop by to check it out.

It said Excel on the side and had blue canvas. Very nice lady that gave me some information that was helpful. I'll make some time to stop in next time I'm up the creek. With or without a paddle!
