I have seriously corroded brass jib hanks that I'd like to clean up, but I'm worried that most anything I might do or use to cut the corrosion will stain the jib.

Any ideas? Thanks

There just gonna turn green again ;)

I do use a tiny bit of WD-40 if they start hanging up as there used in saltwater 4 times a week and i have no fresh water to rinse them

I trailer-sail in fresh water so they won't get much exposure. This is a used sail I picked up and just needs a one-time cleaning (before I turn around and re-sell it).

I don't buy sails ,but we will take it on consignment. When you are done with it ; if it is in good shape. We are needing as many sails as we can get. Our customers are bugging the heck out of us. We cannot keep stock

Jib hanks are fairly inexpensive and very easy to replace. I would buy new hanks and be sure to rinse with fresh water after sailing and try not to store the sails wet. Also try rolling your sails instead of folding them and store in a vented bag.
