correct size fuel hose

what is the correct size of fuel hose for an 85 h.p. 1984 force motor? currently i am using 3/8" but I have read that 5/16ths is also used. which is better? also does anyone have the part numbers for the quick connect male and female pieces for portable fuel tanks? thanks!

Either will supply all the fuel the engine needs. If there is a long run from tank to engine, 3/8 will have less resistance, while 5/16 will fit the carb fittings better.
