Correct Rectifier?

I purchased a rectifier (sierra # 18-525) from iboats for my engine. When I received it today the label says it is for a v4, v6 crossflow.
It also has no purple wire. A note was sent with the package stating it is no longer needed due to design improvements.

Will this rectifier work on my engine?

You need an extra digit in that part number. The 35 amp OEM #583,266 crosses to the Sierra part # 18-5832. http://ww2.sierramarine.com/sierra/catalog/interoem.asp?oesearch=583266

If they sent a 18-5825, that is also 35 Amp, so maybe it's OK.
