I have inhereted a 1981 16' blue fin, I beleive its called a "lil piker".....

anyway, I have had to gut the entire thing, top to bottom. everything was rotten (moldy) from never being taken care of and years in the elements. The wood had been replaced at least once before (and with the wrong type), so I have no idea what the correct arrangement of any of the plumbing, live well or bilge, is supposed to be.

I am trying to plan its new layout, and I still have what I am assuming is the old live well. I would like to move it off to the side ( it had been in the center when I got it) and since the old hoses are shot everything is starting from scratch.

is there a diagram anywhere, or can someone here walk me through the specs of what goes where? so far all I can guess at is the exit near the transom is for the bilge....

no other boat I have ever had, had a bilge or a live well so I am out of my element here.

any response is appreciated.

Welcome to iboats Dry Dock,

The live well pump system is very simple. You'll have a line coming in from the pump to the top of the live well, and an overflow near the top with a hose to the exterior well above the water line. And then there will be a drain line (straight out the bottom. The pump just runs water in until it reaches the overflow and what water isn't needed just runs out. If you have a timer for the pump, it'll run automatically.

You could also have a gravity system...this is the simplest of all...it just flow water in until it reaches the exterior water line, only takes one line for that one.

Post up some pictures and lets see what you have

Livewells are typically installed in the center of the boat because of their depth and won't usually fit anywhere else.

Like CW said, post up some pics and you'll get a bunch of help.

Re: correct bilge and live well plumbing- new guy

thanks for the responses guys.

I have attached two pictures, one from the top showing the two entry points in the bottom, and one from the inside, showing the manifold spraybar attachment.

there are also two holes below the transom, which I am assuming are the entry/exits for the live well, and the one near the top of the transom on the side of the boat, which I am assuming is the exit for the bilge.

I could also use some guidance on what size pumps I'll need for each, I've never done this before and want to get it right the first time.

thanks again!
