Hi all,

Motor: Mercury 4 stroke 80hp (2019 model)

Been digging into all the posts here about converting jet to prop. I currently have my lower jet unit out and was going to buy a new lower prop unit. Would be very thankful for all the feedback given here.

Questions:
I measured my shaft length on the lower jet unit and it marks 24.5". I'm assuming I need a 25" shaft for the new lower prop unit.

Where would I connect my shift cables? Previously the shift cables connected to the lower jet unit. I assume I'd need to buy a new set of cables.

Do I need a "bay kit"? Read about this but not sure what I'm looking for.

Thanks!

The 24.5" driveshaft does not automatically mean a 25" shaft lower unit.----Best to get help / price of lower unit at your local dealer.

Yes, the cable that operates the "bucket" on the jet will need to be replaced. You will need to look at your motor and compare to a schematic to make sure that you have the rest of the linkage under the cowl.

You might check the Sterndrive Engineering (SEI) website. Your motor is new enough, I would think, to buy a new gearcase from them.
