Compression

Was looking at a ‘94 Evinrude 115. Compression was 110-115 in 3 cylinders and 95 in the other! I’m thinking I should be on passing on it, but wanted some other opinions on it! I believe they are supposed to be within 10 psi of each other! Price was 1k, til I took the compression test! Oh, controls included! Thanks!

Sounds like the classic broken ring syndrome.-----If you can rebuild it yourself make an offer for a parts motor $500 max , if it looks good cosmetically.----If you have to pay a big shop ---Take big steps in rapid succession -----As it could be a $5000 touch to make it reliable.-----That 10% does not apply in this day and age in my opinion.

Dont buy it until you know what size pistons are in it.
