I'm restoring a fairly new boat that hasn't seen a lot of TLC. Dirt stains on deck and mold/mildew stains on deck pads.

Cleaner depends on what caused the stain.

Dirt on gelcoat is just soap and water.

Mold and mildew depends on color and material. Spray nine and Clorox cleanup work well on vinyl.

This must be some kinda special dirt because I've already tried the mild cleaners like Simple Green and Fabulosa.

It’s gelcoat… it’s porous. Could be tannin stains, could be a lot of things.

For tannin I use Atwood biodegradable hull cleaner cut 75:1 water to cleaner in a garden sprayer.

Don't get on aluminum. Stain will disappear in front of your eyes rinse with water

Post a pic

Fabulosa sucks as a cleaner

Take care with simple green. It will eat zinc

MaryKate on and off is a mixture of 2 acids plus alcohol. It takes off most stains. Wear gloves.

i used toilet bowl cleaner on my badly stained gelcoat, sprayed it on in small sections then scrubbed with scotch bright pad , i light polish with a buffer and cut compound and it looked gleaming new.
ware gloves , that stuff is hard on skin.

Toilet bowl cleaner works great, but you need to think about what it will come in contact with when you rinse it off the surface. Even diluted, that stuff can act on all different types of materials from plastics to metals, so just consider where it will be going as you rinse it off, and make sure nothing will be damaged as the cleaner runs off.
