My 4.3 litre I/O started to throw my sepertine belt and chirp when hot. It only has 40 hours and the belt was in good shape. I observed that power steering seemed a little offset. I shimmed the rear bracked with two thick washers so the pulley protudes forward about an 1/8inch. After making this adjustment the sound went away and the belt rides in all grooves of the pulley. Previously the belt would not ride in the rearmost groove but now it does. I heard this a common problem because the rear bracket is not very robust.
