I did not. I figured something was ******(edit) and I'd just replace it. I also figured I'd join a forum with hundreds of years of knowledge to ask a simple question..... can I replace my throttle controls cable for cable or do I need to **** around with a buncha **** depending on which one I go with?Mercury/Quicksilver Commander 3000 is an in bulkhead mount, hidden cables with a single lever and no fast idle to lift like the Commander 2000 that mounts on the bulkhead with the cables exposed and a visible lever to lift for fast idle.
To get fast idle with the 3000, With the lever in N, push in on the large black button and hold it in while advancing the lever forward. This disconnects the gear shifter cable. When ready to go about your business normally, return the lever to N and the button will pop out and you will be back in normal service.
So, maybe you haven't played with yours to find out its secret...thought about contacting the mfgr.?
