I have an old 57' evinrude 35 hp. It has the dual line fuel system and the old pump up tank. Can I change over to the single line tank with the pump ball, and put some kind of fuel pump on this engine?

Thanks

Re: Changing fuel lines and tanks

Jetman - I have the same engine - '57 Johnson Javelin (ok almost the same engine). I had to find the tank, the hose, the fitting, the gastkets, and paint the tank (just did that today at lunch). Ended up costing me about $80. You can find the entire package on Ebay, they usually, in decent shape, go for about $50-$60. As far as changing over to a single system, I don't think so. The compression line for the tank is there for a reason. I don't even think you could install a fuel pump on the tank and force the gas in. The engine knows how much gas it needs, that's what the air flow is for. Let us know how it turns out!!

OMC used to have a conversion kit many moons ago. It hasn't been available for a number of years but you should be able to get the individual parts to install a pump. Then all you need is the tank and hose.

Good luck!
