Cayo Costa Florida

How did Cayo Costa fare after the hurricanes last year? Are the cabins still there?<br /><br />Is the marina at Bokillia(sp) open (ramp?)? <br /><br />Our family had some great times there when the kids were young years back before the State took it over. Might like to head over one of these days.

Nope. The cabins were gone. They might be back up or at least going up. Johnson Shoals really changed. The old cut is completely gone and a totally different one opened.<br /><br />The ramp and marinas are getting back together pretty well. The shacks and houseboats in Bull Bay were all destroyed. One houseboat kinda survived but it was upside down in the trees. We helped get our buddys shack redone and we stayed there after Christmas. Actually they stayed there Thanksgiving. The one shack in Turtle Bay didnt get touched. Amazing.<br /><br />The tree lines are all completely different, much lower for sure. There were no leaves right after the storm. Real wierd to be able to see thru the trees. Its all growing back nicely now.
