Carpet under layer desintegrating

New boat, some cleaning to do.

Today I washed my boat carpets.
But I found that the back side of them, that looks like an anti slip rubber, that is now dried, detaches by small grains when moved.

In the boat, there is always a black dust at the edges of the carpets.

Is there something I can apply underneath to seal the old rubber, while remaining anti slip?

Would rolling a coat of contact cement glue work?
I'm just afraid that if too liquid, that the glue may travel to the top layer.

Suggestions are welcome. Buying new carpet is not one ;-)

Okey Dokey, then install snaps in the boat and on carpet. Can also scrap all the backing off, shake clean and apply new backing. Search on "replace rubber backing on carpet"

Rub Backing by envirotex, but don't know how well it works

Hey, thank you for the suggestion. I didn't know that kind of product existed.

I would prefer to re-do the backing than drilling holes for snaps though.
Now, I have to find that product locally. I only see online sellers, even Walmart only sells it online.

I will follow up how it turns out.

If walmart is selling it, they will do "ship to store" for free.

But not if its a 3rd party selling it.
