can't find a driveshaft for my 1970 evinrude

I broke the gear off the top of my drive shaft removing the flywheel nut. I have searched and searched online for a replacement.

Does anyone know a place which sells the driveshaft i need?

According to a old interchange book, the 1969 and 1970 115hp driveshaft are identical. The part number of 385414 may be superseded, something you might want to look into.

I found one place which lists the part, but no longer carries it.

I was thinking about having the shaft welded back together, but as you can see from the closeup picture, the teeth are worn badly on one side.

Dave watch ebay motors, boat parts, lower units, and also gear case for search topics. find a donor lower. you also might try tcoutboard.com call them.

A search on BRP shows the part number as 384424 and was used on several motors (85, 100, 115, 125 from 1970 & 1971). That is provided the motor is a 1970 115.
