I am looking to possibly buy a 16 foot sailboat advertised in out local newspaper. I went to look at it and the owner knew nothing at all about the boat. It appears to need a good bit of work. I really want to know what the boat is and if is a good boat or not. There were no identifying marks on it anywhere that I could find. I tried to search the hull number, but came up empty. If anyone can identify this boat from the attached pictures, please let me know what it is. Thanks from a new forum member!

Sorry about the distortion in some of the pictures. My camera is just about shot.:(

as far as identifying it no clue but a couple pointers-one, it is on a trailer, but i highly doubt you can launch from that trailer, i may be wrong but i don't think its really a "trailer sailor", two, between the cuddy and the cockpit-i doubt you will ever get a good seal, just the fiberglass to wood joints, i don't see it happening, three, i see no indication of any rigging, mast, sails, etc, and not knowing how much you're paying that could very easily double-or triple-your costs, plus if you decide you want a bimini, or cushions, that all adds up-very quickly, four, it is a very nice looking boat, very pretty lines, but be prudent, check for rot, cracks around chain plates, mast support, any cracks around bearing points can be a concern, but that being said it is an old boat, some cracking will be there regardless. The hull may very well be a steal, especially if its solid, but if its just the hull, it would have to be a real steal or else you're going to eat your savings before you even come close to fitting it out

In ohio, if you call the division of watercraft and give them the "oh" number, or in your case the "AL" number, they can tell you who owns it, who last registered it, and what it was registered as, i.e. the make and model.

There's a chance it's homebuilt...or at least the upper part on a factory hull. I've never seen one before!
