Saw one for sale today. Looks nice, but don't know anything about them other than looking at their web site. Thanks for any info.

Re: Campion Boats any good?

I've Bass fished for the past 40 years and have
had three different bass boats and fished from
just about every make of bass boat there is. My
present bass boat is a Champion. It's the
absolute best from all perspectives. The problem
now is Champion went bankrupt. Is someone else
going to build them from there molds, will it be
as good as the past ones, and will parts be available. Who knows, but your looking at a used one, so it does'nt matter. I put Champion #1,
Basscat #2, and the rest falls under "who cares".
Keep in mind, the boat is important, but the motor is what it's all about.

I had competed with fellow anglers in Champions and they are a fantastic rough water boat.

Bob

Thanks Sandy and Bob for the reply, but wonder if we are talking about the same boat. Campion claims to be the largest independent boat builder in Canada. I don't see a bass boat in their lineup. :)

JRJ,
Campions are built here in BC (okanagan Valley)and very well priced very popular here. I believe they are the biggest boat builder in Canada. They've been building boats up to 28' for 20 years or more and their old boats seem to hold up pretty well. Don't know their bowriders/fast lake boats very well (I'm out in the saltchuck), but by reputation they're significantly better than a Bayliner/Maxxum/Searay in build quality. They do have an "Explorer" line for the saltchuck which I'd rate as better than a Trophy, but not a top tier boat for salt water.

Buying Canadian means your dollar is worth $1.58 so don't be fooled by a low sticker price. They're decent boats.

Re: Campion Boats any good?

i just purchased my first Campion.. not champion but CAMPION> boat builder from canada.

the build quality and performance is nothing short of amazing. better then searay.. on par with bryant or even a cobalt. fit/finish is spot on. efficient hull design. amazing performance.

you wont be dissapointed...

From the locals that have worked at and on campion boats, they built very good boats and then decided the bottom line was more important than quality. I'm not sure of the years they changed but the best thing to do is check build of the stringers and transom thoroughly before you buy any boat.

This month'sa boating mag had an article about them using some new formula in the making of their hulls that was eco-friendly.
