Buying new boat, any suggestions?

Looking to buy first fiberglass boat. Welcome any comparison info on ranger, skeeter, and triton boats. I have not had opportunity to ride in triton yet, but have other two. Also, anyone have any first hand comparisons of 2-stroke versus 4-stroke? Appreciate any and all opinions so that I may make a well informed decision that I will be satisfied with. Thank You.

Own a Ranger and love it. Got a 21 footer and it handles great. Also heard alot of goods things about Triton. Both Ranger's and Triton's hold their value well and are quality built boats. Go for the biggest you can as far as price and storage and towing capabilities. What size are you looking at?

Well guys, I'm just a poor river rat. I've got a 1976 Venture bass boat with a 140 mercruiser. It gets me there in a hurry and doesn't burn near the gas my 50 hp does. The gel coat is pitiful but I'm not ashamed to be seen in it. I just take pride in the fact that I've got a really nice boat which I've taken alot of pride in fixing up and have less invested in it than you guys will have in sales taxes on your new boats. Shiney boats are impressive, but don't catch fish.

Go with a boat that will allow you to fight a good fish without breaking your neck. Dual console boats are a pain to move past in a hurry so I would suggest a single console. Depending on the type of fishing and where you are going to fish and budget and so on..... a center console whaler is easy to move around in too. As for whistles and bells....a live well and the will to fish.<br /><br />Good luck,<br /><br />Bob

Hello Herrera<br />I haven't been in a Skeeter but a fishing buddy has a triton. It is a great boat and will screem across the water. My only gripe would be in the ride in rough water.<br /> The Ranger is also a great boat with a good rough water ride but not quite as fast.<br /> I think you will find dry storage is very inportant in a bass boat as well as the trailer,electronics,livewells, ect.<br /> I would recomend sitting down and deciding on what my budget would allow and then stand up,toss all that in the can and go buy the biggest, fastest, rig I could fit in my driveway! 2stroke vs. 4 stroke? I had a 75 hp mariner2, now I have a 90 hp suzuki 4 stroke. and I can say I wish I had the 4 stroke a long time ago... It is quiter and I love it!! plus I don't have to buy oil and always make sure it has oil in it. or mix it... sure I haev to change it every little bit, but atleats I don't have to worry if I have oil in the container or if I have spare oil......... <br /><br />just my .02cents worth.
