Boat is/was too busy.Especially when the tide is coming in and you are in a 10 knot cross wind. Found that out when plug was leaking and I had to hang over the transom to fix it. It is amazing how much water can come thru that little hole in such a short time. I thank God that He gave me the sense to install an automatic bilge pump. As soon as I got home I removed aft seating and am leaving it out.
Mike

Re: Busy Boat

Hows this for preemptive thinking..

I once did the "plug out" thing.. and my boat has two plugs, both were out. I took of straight away so didn't notice water till the boat started dragging through the water..

luckily I have long arms and got them back in before sinking and didn't get wet..

later on I was getting sick of leaves and debris clogging the holes after a day on the water.. so I took the small half inch plugs out and replaced them with 1 1/4 inch plugs..

If I ever leave them out,, I would have water up to my knees before 2 minutes had passed.

still, I now have chain clips holding them to the holes, so I can't missplace them if they aren't in the holes.. :)

aand the other upside is that if I do drown the boat, it'll drain alot faster when out of the water..

regards

Frank
