Went to a state operated Lake that seemed to be the training ground for Wildlife Enforcement Personnel. I wasn't drinking, but my buddies that drink more than their share was. At dusk, we noticed that the ranger was making his rounds to each boat on the lake. So my on buddy says "Lets just take the beer and put it is the fish basket that hangs over the boat, and after they leave we will put it back into the cooler" The other guys agreed that would be a good idea. You know the outta sight outta mind rule? Sure enough here comes the Ranger over to our boat and sees whats up. Everything was fine until he noticed all these Bud Light cans floating in the water all around out boat. My buddies didn't take in consideration that light beer in the cans floats, plus they didn't close the top of the basket. At least the Rangers were glad to see that I hadn't been drinking which was proven to them after a soboritey test. But the citations where wrote for littering, and alcholic beverages in the state park! The buddies paid the fines since I wasn't involved with the consumption of the beer. The fines came to $850 bucks! plus the loss of their 3 cases of bud light! I think you could say the the moral of this story is "You don't really need to own a boat to throw money in the hole in the water!"
