Bottom paint for trailer boat

I have a 1985 carver montego 2657. We bought it in April and the bottom has antifoulin bottom paint. It used to be wet dock all every year up to no I have no plans or nor do I want to every dock it is the address bottom paint I can use that won't rub on my bunks

If your boat was done correctly it will have barrier coat and then some kind of ablative bottom paint. The only way to keep ablative paint from coming off is to remove it. This what the paint is designed to do in the water on it's own.

If you make it down to the gelcoat it could have fresh gelcoat applied. Otherwise I would suggest removing the bottom paint and then repaint with epoxy

Was not done correctly from what I saw and what epoxy would be best if need it in black if you have any good brands

Is black the hull color, or are you trying to cover the bottom paint.

because of the ablative properties of bottom paint, you need to remove it down to gel coat to paint with epoxy.

Sherman Williams makes some stuff called Marcopoxy which I like. Other brands would be Interlux and Pettit

The boat is white and black I plan on taking the old paint off to smooth it out is layered bad we are talking at least 1/4 inch in spots the site won't let me post a picture

I used bottomcoat ACT on my trailered boat. Can be applied over most other paints and last multiple seasons w/o touch up.
