Here's a couple of places in PA that are 1-2 hours from Philly:

Blue Marsh Lake
Beltzville Lake

Both are nice little lakes that allow unrestricted engine sizes and have day use areas like beaches and snack bars and playgrounds.

I used to live in Broomall,Pa and have a house in Margate, NJ. I had a 18 ft power boat and use to put it in in Margate and travel the water way to the casinos and the Long Port Inlet. Great fishing and boating. I now live in Orlando, Fl and enjoy boat the Saint Johns River and the Ocean water with my new boat.
Still cought more fish in jersey than i ever cought here in Florida.

Harveys Lake in Luzerne county PA is very nice (largest natural lake in PA aside from erie) near Wilkes Barre about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away from philly, or Lake Wallenpaupack in the poconos is the largest manmade lake in the state with alot of camping and other accomidations.
I live pretty close to both and use them frequently.
