Boat tilts to Left when Driving!

I replaced my impellar today and boat was going smooth. Temp at 165. I will order the 142 degrees thermostat from George. Good idea?
Anyway, my boat tilts to the left as if it needed an alignment if it was a car. I thought it was the trim tab, but its not. I even replaced it with a flat Anode plate, like most new models have. I can not afford to let go of the steering wheel. What can be causing this? My boat is a 1988 24' Sunray with 350 and Alpha One with power steering.

That trim tab thingy is adjustable to counteract the pull you describe.

I no longer have a trim tab, so this should not be the reason why! Any other suggestions?

What Yepblaze is saying is that you made an error taking it off. Put it back and adjust it.

Red Sky......
JB

I'm with J.B., the torque produced by your right handed prop is causing your boat to list to the port side, same for all boats, except counter rotating pairs that counter act each other. loosen and adjust trim tab anode to counter act it, may take a few adjustments to get it right. A flat anode allows no adjustment so you are stuck with the listing. When adjusted properly you should not feel as much torque in the steering wheel.

Re: Boat tilts to Left when Driving!

I am not sure I even understand the problem.
You describe the "boat" tilting to the left, which IMHO has nothing to do with excess steering wheel torque (trim tab). The answers you have recieved do address wheel torque problems, is that your question?

I think people would get more accurate answers to thier problems if they would give a VERY detailed description of them. IE: Is this a new problem? If so describe any and all recent repairs & accidents on the boat.
Tell everything that you can possibly think of.

This might seem like a waste of time, but it is the Posters job to paint the most accurate picture of thier problem on the first Posting. It would amaze you as to the clues that are picked up on by some of the experienced mechanics on this board. So Ramble on! Tell everything you know! Youll be back in the water much faster, Just my opinion,

The comment regarding duoprops is not entirelt accurate as Volvo recommends a 5 degree offset to port for their duoprop drives. Fitting power steering eliminated the pulling to one side. Leaning to one side is omething my boat does sometimes and can be offest by outdrive angle or trim tabs? Can be caused by a beam wind also?

Leans to one side......... There is an article at http://www.yachtsurvey.com/ That describes a problem associated with many moder hull designs called chine walking where at speed some of the newer hull designs have a tendancy to flop over towards one side or the other.
http://www.yachtsurvey.com/chine_riding.htm

Interesting reading throughout that website.

See you in a couple of days when you get back from digging through all the info there.

Just kidding, but when I landed there the first time I did spend a couple of days going through all the articles.
