I'm new to the forums but have already found a great deal of useful information so thank you to everyone who contributes.

I am having an issue with my 09 Glastron GT 205. It has the 5.0L Mercruiser carbureted motor and an Alpha One Gen 2 lower unit. Engine serial # is 1A323012. I took the boat out on the river a few weekends ago and hit a submerged tree with the lower unit, not the prop. It stopped the boat, killed the engine, and blocked up the notch in the lower unit for the speedometer. I cleared the debris, inspected the prop, and went on about my way. I noticed after this that the engine alarm did not shut off after the boat was cranked. I consulted my manual and it says the alarm is for oil pressure, lower unit oil, or engine overheating. The oil and temp gauges showed everything was fine and the lower unit reservoir was still full. I took it home and unplugged the oil and temp sensors (right angle boot connectors on the engine) and cranked the boat but I am still getting an alarm.

Am I not testing the sensors correctly? Does unplugging the sensors not disable them? Maybe they need to be grounded instead of just unplugged?

Thanks.

Unplugging them won't help. Sounds like lower unit oil sensor is damaged

Did you unplug the sensors on bottom of lube bottle too?

Make sure the lube bottle is full, might be seeing a dirty film inside the bottle and no lube. Remove the cap and look

Doesn’t sound like the correct temperature sensor was disconnected/tested if it had the boot as that one should had been the temp gauge… The sensor on the T/housing with 2 wires (Yellow & Black) would be part of the warning horn system.

Gauge senders and alarm switches are not the same sensors. Alarm switches will have a tan/blue wire, the temperature sender will have a tan wire, the oil pressure sender with have a light blue wire. The drive oil monitor bottles is also connected to the alarm circuit, make sure to disconnect one of its 2 black wires (doesn't matter which one).
