Bilge Pump

I currently have a manual bilge pump but I was considering an automatic. How would I wire an automatic.

Also, when does the pump actually turn on? is it only when the water is high enough in the engine compartment?

You would have a 3 position switch on your dash for an Automatic Bilge pump setup. One position would be off, one position would be continuously on and the 3rd position would be automatic to where you would also have a float switch by your bilge so that when the water came up high enough it would trigger the float switch and turn on the pump.
