My Brother wants to buy a small boat for himself. I own a 12" vee hull aluminum.<br />I weigh 220lbs he weighs approx 325lbs. and we have no problem fishing from my boat. Should he buy a jon boat(flat bottom) or a vee hull? He has a hyundai wagon so is limited to length. I suggested a 12' jon with trolling motor, but I'm new at this. anyone have an idea on what size, a 12' or maybe a 14' jon but don't know if he could carry it safely on the top of his hyundai wagon. thanks everyone.

This may sound harsh, but I would check weight limits on both boats. Most of the time bigger is better. If you are limited to carrying the thing on top of a car you might want to think about a trailer. I am no light weight at 235 and my father was 275. It used to strain our 12 foot river boat to carry us and gear.

I have this coleman "scanoe" square back canoe. It will hold745 lbs. including the motor. this boat is wide, for a canoe, very stable. I can put up to a 5hp on it. you can carry it on top of a car easily. I love this little boat.
