Talk about enough to make a grown man cry! I recently found a great deal on a 2001 Mercury 50 HP two stroke with less than ten hours on it. Unfortunatley, in very familar water I hit a slighly submerged rock solid going about 25 MPH. It kicked up violently and bent one blade of the prop and put a significant dent in the skeg. After having the prop repaired it runs without vibration, but the prop shaft nut wabbles slightly when it is spun. After a couple hours of testing there is no water infliltration in the lower unit, but I'm very concerned about the seals. Is there a chance I got lucky the shaft is bent beyond the seals? Is it wishful thinking that it will be OK?
What is my best (lowest cost) course of action with a slightly bent prop shaft on a motor and lower unit that is like new?
