Re: Battery Guage Help
You said "battery gauge" but what does the face of the gauge actually say. Battery Gauges are two different varieties and are wired differently. A gauge calibrated 8 - 18 or numbers similar is a "voltmeter". If the gauge reads something like this: -30 -- 0 -- +30 then it is an ammeter. If you have a gauge that has red, yellow and green markings it is nothing more than a voltmeter. Voltmeters need only two connections, three if there is an internal light. G = ground, I = ignition which is simply +12 volts when the key is in the RUN position. The unlabeled terminal is probably the internal light if it has one. As with many gauges, "S" = send terminal but since a sender is not required for a voltmeter, this terminal would not be used. Keep in mind gauge manufacturers use the same case for many different gauges so some terminals will be present even if not used. If you indeed have an ammeter, then this wiring is totally different so post back if that's what you have as a diagram will be necessary to ensure you don't fry your wiring.
