Seriously. Have you ever seen a 1 ton van stuck to it's axles in the back yard? It's not pretty. I have done all I can do including breaking out the heavy duty come-a-long and only succeded in determining it is beyond my skills to save tonight. I guess we are back down to 2 vehicles until I can dig the van out or break down and spend money to get someone to get it out. Gonna look at it with a fresh mind tommorow and see what I can do. If I have to pay to get it out there goes a lot of fishing money so I hope I can get it w/o a phone call. I will keep you updated.
BTW yes there will be pictures taken tommorow and throughout the whole process.

Re: Anyone own a tow truck?

i guess its out of the question to ask some of your high school kids to round up some monster 4wheel trucks to come pull it out? you probably don't want them to know where you live. if you don't care, then that might be a way to get it out. i bet 2 of em together can pull it out, if they have enough chain. end-to-end one pulling the other - we got a stuck farm tractor out like that once.

but you will have to dig the axles out, if you don't want to put undue stress on the van. boards in front of the tires will help, gravel, chainlink, bags of concrete mix, etc. good luck!

Hey that sounds like an idea but all we got here is some stinkin lincons and those japaneese models that are low to the ground. The biggest truck is still a plain one and owned by a girl who told me she loves trucks. I do not work at a rural school but more like a wanna be gangland school. We have a lot of poverty, drugs and gang activity in the area where I work. I can count on one hand the number of students that hunt regularly and both hands those that fish on a regular basis. Of course other schools are not the same. Personally untill this year my surburban stood out in the teachers parking lot followed by a chevy 1500 truck. Now we have 3 surburbans and a few more trucks. None 4x4 but all brought in by the new coaching staff. Some real fellows there not those wanna be rednecks I have had to deal with in the past.

Suburban in the shop getting a new rear end. We went through 3 salvage ones before biting the bulett and going new. It should be out by the end of the week. If not then it will just be longer.
The women of the family not trusting me when I started breaking out the normal gear for this type of job called the tow company while I was at work and there sat the van in the front yard when I got home today. Boy was I disapointed in thier lack of faith. Several people had offered to help when the time came and all i needed to do was dig out a little and put some stuff for traction in the holes. Anyway I am out of the muck and mobile agian. All I have to do now is fill in the ruts which might have to wait till I can get over to one of them w/o sinking myself on foot LOL.

No faith, no fun, no feeling of accomplishment, no opportunity to redeem your manhood, no satisfaction of an obstacle overcome and a job well done. No mud in the house, no photos to share with the family years from now.

Do these women have any idea what they've done???

I'd get even with them. Next time they ad something to the "honey do" list I'd tell them that you are simply not qualified or capable of doing it.

Or better yet, next time they are going to do something, like clean out the kitchen cupboards, hire the teenage neighbor to do it while they are gone someday.

I'm sure some of you out there could come up with some suggestions here. Lets hear them guys.

Rick, lets not get him divorced here.

Seriously, I think having someone else re-arrange her kitchen would set her straight. Besides, who wants to pay for a party that you won't even be around to enjoy, then come home to sleep with Rover in the back yard?

Re: Anyone own a tow truck?

Last time I let someone else do the kitchen work (a present for her birthday) I lost about half of my coffee cups. You know the large ones with lids from the convience store. I love those cups and hate it when one goes missing. As to the party I won't have one at the house that I can't be at. Besides it would tick off her friends which in some sort of funny way happen to be mine as well I don't think that is a good thing to try either. Maybe I will give her favorite blanket to the dog for a bed. Naw, she would just wash it and keep on using it. I guess something will come to me later. >>>>> I know she can get me a 9wt flyrod for saltwater and bass fishing. That should more than make up for any discontent I feel now.

The flyrod is a good idea. I had a buddy who bought is *wife* a brand spankin new 12 gauge Baretta shotgun. Over-under. Special Edition.
Probably spent $1500 on it. By the way, this is the gun he asked for on his birthday and didn't get.

She came right back and bought *him* a really nice gown (in her size), matching shoes, some expensive makeup, and an all-day package at the most expensive spa in town.

I think both of them learned their lesson when the credit card bill came in. Funny nonetheless
