I been wanting to put a live well on the pontoon I been rebuilding. Looking for something I can basically cut out a segment of floor and "drop in" and mount. If that makes sense. Anyone have any idea's or links?

I still can't figure out how this is all setup, it's much different than most. I would figure a live well would have more to do with fishing in general vs pontoon boats

Well I added one to mine but I made it a free standing type. 15 gal stainless tank with a aerator on a timer and a fill pump. It will surprise you how many have fishing toons their twice as comfortable to fish from. Their a lot of different ways to sit one shape or rounded corners they have to swim consistently to live. A lot will use the bottom of a plastic drum cut off and just sit it on the deck for fishing trips or you can find some real nice plastic tanks at a farm store and Walmart has a complete aerator kit for 30.00

I use one of those plastic washtubs with the rope handles. Not built in, but it works fine and I can take it or leave it at home as needed. I just use a portable airstone for aeration and add some pickling salt to keep my shad frisky.

Theres a number of solutions. One of the easiests is to just use a inexpensive cooler and modify it to suit your needs. Another way is to visit a marine salvage yard and swipe one out of a wrecked boat. Live wells can be made from coolers also. I have a 60 quart cooler that doubles as a seat. I'm considering setting up pumps so I can fill and drain it automatically.

Next time you are on your boat have someone else drive and carfully stick your head under the deck and watch what the water does, unless your livewell was really far forward I don't think it woudl servive the first trip.

I have seen stainlesss steel rivets ripped out of wavetamers from the force of the water so I would stay above deck with a livewell.

Google "Livewell kits" and you will find more options thant you will know what to do with.

This is why I ask on here, cuz I'm still trying to get this thing set up and have ZERO pontoon experience, thanks!

Under deck can be done , but its very hard and causes a lot of extra problems. Its more of a choice to mount it permanent of removable. :D

When I first saw this thread I thought that it was a pretty cool idea, and thinking about doing something similar when I get around to building a pontoon, but then I had a similar thought to what was said here. Plus, it would most likely need to be rectangular (unless you're going to cut out braces) to have any size to it, and for some baits you'd have to round the corners in it. However, this could still be a pretty good storage idea to have some short under-floor storage areas up to about 6 inches deep for life jackets and emergency supplies.

It can be done. You would have to have near the bow. Another thing that you would need to figure out is, will it work with your trailer having something under the deck.
