Re: any one have any turbo chargers?
Sloopy,

I don't have any, but you need to be careful messin' with those things. They look like a lot of fun but they spin REAAALLLLY fast. If you get one built, don't walk where you would be in line with the blades if it were to fly apart
. You want the blades to be in good shape so the balance isn't off. You're first post about jet engines got me interested in building one
. A friend and I are planning on building a remote controlled race car that has a turbine engine on it. We plan on running a direct drive system. I figured it up the other day that, at 150,000 rpm and with 4 inch diameter tires, it would go over 1,700 mph in a vacuum with no wind resistance or "lift."
We will be buiding ours out of sheet metal and a couple turbocharger bearings. One will be for the compressor/turbine shaft and the other for the output turbine shaft. It's gonna take a while but it should be worth it.

Check these sites out:

.

James

PS: Try a junkyard and tell them what you plan to do with it. They might give it to you cheaper, if not free, if you promise them a demonstration when you finish it.
