Re: Any info on Cimarron boats???????

I have a 1990 Cimarron, 16ft, with a Johnson 90hp motor. A great little boat!! I'm not the flashiest boat on the lake but I've had a lot of trouble free fun out of it in the last three or four years. Bought it, and the trailer, for $1,200 and think it was a real bargain. I love the back seats that pull out and can be placed in bow and stern like a bass boat! Always wondered myself why there isn't any info on the Internet about it or the company.

Re: Any info on Cimarron boats???????

My dad has a 1986 Cimarron jet boat with a 350 small block in it. The company went out of business right after we bought the boat so that is probably why no one has much info on them. They were only in business a few years. Ours has a ton of power, but is rough with turning. Every time we go around a turn the heavier people have to get on the one side to prevent it from flipping up. Since its an inboard the hatch wasn't very well designed as well. It's real heavy and a pain to get up.

I have a question that I hope can be answered. I bought a 1984 Cimmaron last year and at the end of the season we had it on the lake and all of a sudden it would only go in reverse.

Even when we had it in forward gear it would go in reverse. Does anybody have any ideas on what I need to do.

My brother had one in the early 80's about a 83 model. 15ft with a 90 Johnson. It would pull up three people on slalom skis. It looked a lot like the 70 model Tri Hull glastrons. I was told they bought some of the old molds from Glastron when they first started making boats. A good little boat that ran and rode fine.

Please repost your question in the appropriate engine repair forum and let us know what motor and drive you have.

Re: Any info on Cimarron boats???????

I have an '86 cimmaron 18' center console and I have a couple of questions about the boat that I'm hoping someone can answer since I can not find info online anywhere. First of all, what brand motor came on these boats when they were first sold. I have a Johnson 150 on the boat now and it was on there when I purchased it. Secondly, does anyone else have problems with fuel pickup and pressure since the tank is made in the front of the boat with the fuel line running up to the front of the tank and then back to the bottom. It's almost 18' between pickup and motor and I'm being told my engine can't pump the fuel that far. I'm told by my mechanic that it is a design flaw and the boat wouldn't have pumped the fuel that far when new. I find it hard to believe that a new boat wouldn't have run properly. Has anyone else experienced this or am I being given incorrect information?

You can buy Cimarron boats brand new at Cabelas www.cabelas.com

They are built by Larson (Actually same as Larson models but re-labeled)

Hope this helps :)
