Any Biloxi Back Bay Boaters?

Me and some guys from work are heading to Keesler AFB for a school for the next 6 weeks. I am contemplating hauling my pontoon boat down there, since between the 4 of us its cheaper to split up the gas and have it for 6 weeks instead of renting one.

Any thing to check out? Any swimming beaches? Maybe waterfront hangout/bars/food joints? Never been there just curious of what it has.

What's up, "Smoedog"? Never actually boated in the back bay area before, but launched in the Gulf and made the run to Ship & Horn islands years back. Believe it or not, the local authorities are still not permitting any boating in the rivers and lakes around here. People still w/ flooded houses and camps along the shores, so the First mate and I are taking the jet flea to Pensacola beach Mon-Thurs. Looking forward to the emerald green waters. On the map, looks like you can make the run from Pensacola Beach to Destin all in protected waters behind Santa Rosa island. If you guys bring the barge, you might consider the Pensacola-Navarre-Destin area. Beautiful water. Good luck. I wonder where "Coastal Richard" hails from?

Our class dates are 17 sep to 25 Oct. Can't find any info on the bay as far as recreational boating and what not in that area.

If Fatima is not going, and it'll be just you and your buddies aboard, you might want to have one of them carry an empty 5 gal. gas can. I've seen rumors get started that way !!! There's always gambling in Biloxi !!!

Bleh, not much of a gambler, I throw enough money away on beer and my boat. Don't need to throw it away at a casino to lol.

I'm east of you folks near the coastal town of Apalachicola, FL. Yes, the trip from Pcola to Destin is a really nice trip that is well protected by Okaloosa Island and the water is absolutely gorgeous.

The Admiral and I will be going to IP sometime in October; nothing firm yet, but your dates give us three weekends to consider.

The Hook Up is a new restaurant / marina a few miles to the south of Keesler and The Dock is an established party zone / restaurant a few miles to the north. Not much in between the locations. There are some good swimming spots on the nearby rivers.

Been all over the back bay in every puddle there is deep enough to float my boat. In fact, that's why I bought a boat after living there just a few weeks (also at AFB) and have pretty much owned once since. Lotsa good places to swim, ski...etc.

Made that trip too and the trip to Destin on Friday and returning on Sunday was the best part of a nice long three day weekend.
