Another Cooling system Question

[Just Learning]

Have a 1997, 4.3L Mercruiser in a Sea Ray 190. Still fairly new to this I/O thing---<br />When running the engine on muffs, after it gets warmed up with thermostat open, etc., one side of the water coming out is fairly warm, the other cool. Also, one riser/manifold is pretty warm, the other cool. Should both be same temp??<br />Temp gauge stays steady @ 170 deg.

i've read elswhere that late model mc can have up to 20 degree difference.
